Koffret

The name

Koffret comes from the French coffret: a small case for jewels and other things worth keeping.

Your favorite apps, kept like jewels.

The name and this one line carry the feeling. Speed and detail are the job of the plain descriptions and of the app itself.

How to say it

KOFF-ret

We write it as Koffret everywhere, in every language, and never transliterate it.

Why a case

Every icon in your menu bar is one you chose to put there. The point is not to throw them away, but to keep them somewhere you can reach. That is what Koffret does.

Those icons were drawn with intent: percentages, badges, little graphs. So when a hidden one comes back out, it comes back exactly as it looks, never as a lookalike.

The icon

The app icon follows the same idea. The deep violet is the inside of the case, and the pale blue gem sitting in it is what you put away.
